Scottie Scheffler continues to separate himself from the field in the golf world in just about every way imaginable. Scheffler, 29, was already the No. 1 PGA Tour golfer in the world heading into last week’s Open Championship, and every stroke at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, only cemented his already impressive legacy even more. Scheffler won the 2025 Open Championship with a score of 17-under par, beating second-place finisher, Harry English, by four strokes.

While nearly everything Scheffler did on his way to victory looked flawless, there was a somewhat mysterious, but funny moment involving Scheffler, that went viral during the early rounds of the tournament.
During an impressive approach shot on the par-4, seventeenth hole, a fart was picked up by a microphone and made its way onto the live broadcast.
And until Friday, the world was under the impression that a fan let out the flatulence. The truth has now been revealed, as Scheffler admitted to being the one who let out the fart, during an interview on the "Pardon My Take" podcast on Barstool Sports.

Scheffler was prompted with the straight forward question, "I have a very import question for you. At the Open, I think it was hole No. 17, did you fart?"
"Yeah, that was me," Scheffler responded.
"Was it actually?" Scheffler was asked.
"Oh yeah, it was me," Scheffler responded again.
Scheffler went on, attempting to clarify how and why it happened.
"You know, you're out there for six hours, you're eating different food over there, so that's what's going to happen. You never know where the boom mics are and what they're going to pick up," Scheffler said with a wry smile.
Despite the accidental flatulence, Sunday’s victory was Scheffler’s fourth major tournament victory of his career. He has four wins this season, including two majors (PGA Championship).
Scheffler has now won three legs of the four needed to complete the career grand slam, needing only a U.S. Open to accomplish the impressive feat.
While he’ll have to wait until 2026, he’ll look to join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Rory McIlroy as the only golfers to complete the career grand slam.
