Nick Saban denies coaching comeback, humorously cites house chores from Miss Terry.
Nick Saban Makes Hilarious Miss Terry Admission While Addressing Comeback Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Former Alabama football coach Nick Saban provided clarity about ongoing coaching comeback rumors on Friday, but it was a humorous remark involving his wife, Miss Terry, that drew the biggest reaction.
Appearing on Fox News, Saban was asked multiple times about speculation that he might return to coaching, which intensified after comments made by former Alabama quarterback and radio host Greg McElroy during SEC Media Days. McElroy claimed a source "very much in the know" was adamant that Saban would make a comeback.
Saban repeatedly denied any serious intentions of returning to the sidelines.
"There is no opportunity that I know of right now that would enhance me to go back to coaching," Saban said firmly.

However, the legendary coach couldn't resist injecting humor into the conversation.
"I never really had a thought about getting back into coaching until two days ago," Saban said. "Miss Terry said I had to run the sweeper in the entire downstairs. While I was running the sweeper, the thought occurred to me, when you were a coach, you had a heck of a lot better job than this."
Saban and his wife, Terry Saban, have been married for more than 50 years.
Saban, who retired in January 2024 after a storied coaching career spanning 50 years, reiterated he enjoys his current role as an ESPN television analyst and adviser to athletic directors and conference commissioners.
He emphasized that he remains deeply committed to protecting the integrity of college football and helping young athletes prepare for successful futures beyond their sports careers.
Speculation about a coaching return had prompted reactions across social media, including a clear statement from Saban's daughter, Kristen, who humorously dismissed the idea.
"He's not coming back to coaching, hate to break it to you," she wrote on Instagram. "You had your time."
Saban, who turns 74 in October, appears content away from coaching. Yet, as his amusing admission about house chores suggests, retirement does come with its own challenges.
