England head coach Sarina Wiegman says that her side will do everything to win UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.

The Lionesses face Spain in the final in Basel this evening. England go into the match as the trophy holders after winning the tournament for the first time in 2022.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, England boss Wiegman said that every final brings pressure but the team simply want to do everything to win.

“In every tournament, you want to perform and there are expectations but you also set expectations for yourself,” Wiegman said.

“I know already that going into a final is very special; there are only two teams that can make the final. It’s not really about pressure, it’s very special.

“When you get to a final, you really want to win it too and that’s how we see it. We are happy that we are in the final and we really want to win it. We will do everything to make that happen.”

England and Spain have met twice in 2025 already with both nations winning one game each. Wiegman says that there are learnings to be taken from those contests but the focus is on the here and now.

She said “We’ve played each other a lot over the last couple of years. It also comes with the Nations League and how that’s set up.

“You always have learnings; they will learn from us and we will learn from them in the games we’ve played. This game is a new situation where we hopefully have an opportunity to take out their strengths a bit and exploit some of the weaknesses we think they have too.”

England have come from behind to defeat both Sweden and Italy to reach the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final. Wiegman says that her team hold great belief that they can respond well to difficult situations.

She said “You want to do well, you don’t want to be a nervous wreck in games but it also shows what the competition is and has been over this tournament. The women’s game is improving so much and it’s so competitive; every game is a hard game.

“I’m just really glad that we made it through. I hoped that we had done it a little earlier but when you are in some scenarios or situations, you hope that you can turn it around with some subs or a shape change. The most important thing is that the players believe that we can win and we can change a game, that’s what we have shown.”

The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final between England and Spain kicks-off at 5pm.
