An iconic five-player class will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday from storied Cooperstown, New York.
Three players — Ichiro Suzuki, CC Sabathia, and Billy Wagner — were elected by eligible voters, appearing on at least 75% of submitted ballots. Ichiro and Sabathia are both first-ballot Hall of Famers, while Wagner will be enshrined in Cooperstown after spending 10 years on the ballot.
Two more players — Dick Allen and Dave Parker — were elected by the 16-person Classic Baseball Era Committee. Both players will be inducted posthumously.
It's a diverse class loaded with high-end talent. Ichiro recorded 4,367 career hits between the Majors and Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball; Sabathia was a feared left-handed ace; Wagner finished his career wth 422 saves. Parker was a two-time batting champ, while Allen was a revered power hittter.
