Last season was not a great season statistically for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But after briefly considering retirement, he decided to return for another season with the team, and it sure sounds like he's looking good, despite his relatively old age for an NFL player.

Kelce struggled much of last season, putting up the worst numbers of his career across essentially every statistical category. However, he's set to return for another season, and he clearly believes he's still capable of performing at a high level.

“I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year,” Kelce said earlier this year after announcing his decision to return to the Chiefs. “I don’t think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I’ve been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me.”

It seems like Kelce is doing everything in his power to make sure that's a reality.

Kelce received a lot of criticism throughout the 2024 season for his physical fitness after spending much of the offseason traveling with his superstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, but he's spent much less time in the public eye this summer and appears to have dedicated himself to staying in shape – and it shows.

The star tight end is noticeably leaner this season and looks more athletic, and Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has taken notice, breaking his silence on Kelce with four words, saying the 35-year-old tight end "looks like he's 20."

"He's svelte right now," Reid told reporters this week, according to E! News. "He's doing a great job. He's in great shape."

"You can see he’s been working out," Reid added.

Kelce himself has admitted that he has shed some weight since last year.

"I am down some weight from the end of the season last year," Kelce said during a press conference last month.

"This year, I got some time to work on some form running and some things early on in the offseason that I just didn't have time for last year," Kelce said. "I'm certainly feeling good, and hopefully it'll pay off."

We'll have to see how Kelce performs this upcoming season.
