The Philadelphia Catholic League dual championships got under way Tuesday with Father Judge defeating Cardinal O'Hara, 67-6, before losing to the host St. Joseph's Prep, 44-19, thereafter in the semifinals.

Father Judge's win over Cardinal O'Hara marked the second year in a row that the two schools have met in the quarterfinals, and both dual meets have yielded similar results. Father Judge won last year's meet by a score of 66-4. In both matches, Father Judge prevailed in 12 of the 13 individual matchups with seven of last year's winners victorious yet again. Joseph Misnick (160 pounds), Christian Vizcarrondo (172), Gianny Marte (215), Justin Walker (285), Camilo Davidson (114), Matt Gertz (133), and Ayden Garcia (139) were all repeat winners.

In the semifinal that followed, St. Joseph's went 8-5 in the individual matchups against Father Judge with John Boggs (215), Colton Anderson (285), James Dwyer (107), Sam Zuchman (114), Anthony Colantuono (127), Wyatt Merschbach (133), Maddox Rosenblatt (139), and Rocco Lukash (152) all victorious on the mat. All five of Father Judge's victors against St. Joseph's were repeat winners on the night including Thomas Quinn and James Gibson along with Vizcarrondo, Garcia, and Misnik.

St. Joseph advances to Monday's championship match against the winner from the other side of the bracket. That result will be determined Thursday, January 22, when Archbishop Ryan and La Salle College meet in the quarterfinals with the winner advancing to take on Conwell-Egan later that evening.

Conwell-Egan is the solid favorite heading into Thursday's second evening of quarterfinals and semifinals with an undefeated record (13-0) in duals during the 2025-26 season (3-0-0 in the Philly Catholic League's Red Division). Four Eagle wrestlers won in their respective divisions a year ago in this event, including sophomore Hunter Webster (20-2 in 2025-26) at 107 pounds, junior Thomas Boyce (3-0) at 114 pounds, sophomore Michael Gorrell (23-6) at 133 pounds, and Colin Walther (22-1) at 145 pounds.

La Salle College junior Cole Trzeciak (27-5) is the only other defending champion at 152 pounds. His win helped propel La Salle to the 2025 team championship at the event in a 30-27 win over Conwell-Egan in the finale.
