The coach’s reaction spoke volumes.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick admitted he doesn’t know the extent of Pedri’s injury after seeing his star midfielder go off against Slavia Prague.
Pedri was replaced in the second half with a hamstring injury, with television cameras capturing Flick’s reaction which spoke volumes.
Flick was then quizzed on Pedri after the game and said only: “I don’t know how he is, he has hamstring problems and needs to have tests done.”
The hope is that it’s not a serious problem but Diario AS are already speculating that it’s likely to be a case of several weeks on the sidelines for Pedri.
Meanwhile, Diario Sport captured Pedri walking out of the stadium after the game.
Flick also spoke about his team’s performances and chances of progressing to the next round of the competition.
“After conceding two goals from set pieces, we came back, and that’s good. It wasn’t easy to play today. It was very cold, and Slavia played very well. They’re a physical team, with dangerous transitions and balls. We were better in the second half,” he added.
“It will be decided next Wednesday. First we had to win, and we have to do it again. Winning in the Champions League is very difficult, as we saw today. Then we’ll see what happens.”
