Last month, EJ Crowell was named an ALL-USA Football Team first-team running back. Now, he has been named Alabama's Mr. Football.
EJ Crowell’s year‑long promise to himself became reality Tuesday as the Jackson High School star was named Alabama’s Mr. Football for the 2025 season, an honor presented by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.
According to the Montgomery Advertiser, Crowell paused to gather himself at the podium, reflecting on a vow he made one year earlier: to become the state’s best high school football player.
“It’s just a blessing and shows that I’m a man of my word,” he said.
Crowell was a USA TODAY ALL-USA National Football Team first-team selection at running back this past season. The University of Alabama signee delivered a historic senior season, rushing for 2,632 yards and 35 touchdowns.
He capped it with a record‑breaking performance in the AHSAA Class 4A championship game, where his 304 rushing yards and five scores shattered a 25‑year‑old title‑game mark previously held by T.R. Miller’s Rayvon Howard. He is the first player from Jackson to win Mr. Football.
Rated a five‑star prospect and the nation’s No. 2 running back by 247Sports Composite, Crowell said he plans to carry the same work ethic to Tuscaloosa.
“You can expect big things from me at the next level,” he told the Advertiser.
