The Florida Gators have a budding superstar in their quarterback room, and the marketing gurus seem to know it.

On Thursday, telecommunications giant T-Mobile released a commercial starring Florida sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway, attempting to capitalize on his yet-to-be-displayed elite talents ahead of the 2025 college football season.

Alongside former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, both future Hall of Famers, Lagway discussed his experience playing college football.

Although Gronkowski and Mahomes are household names, Lagway easily wears the crown of the most explosive high school football player among the trio.

The top quarterback recruit in the 2024 class per 247Sports, Lagway played at Willis High School in Texas, winning the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2023. He is the all-time Texas Class 6A single-season record holder for touchdown passes.

He accounted for 75 touchdowns as a senior, leading Willis to the regional semifinals for the first time in three decades. He spent three seasons as the starting passer for Willis, eclipsing 100 passing scores.

As for T-Mobile, they are inspiring high schools to exhibit extreme spirit this upcoming school year, with the winner winning a grand prize of over $100,000.

While Gronk will continue his new career in front of the camera as a football analyst on FOX and Mahomes attempts to lead the Chiefs to a fourth Super Bowl victory during his nine-year tenure, Lagway will get his first crack as Florida's opening day starter.

In 12 games last year, Lagway threw for 1,915 yards and 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also added 101 yards on the ground.
