Prediction for Luke Littler vs James Wade 2025 World Matchplay of Darts final

The World Matchplay final will feature a rematch from the 2025 UK Open Final.

James Wade and Luke Littler

Luke Littler and James Wade have made it to Sunday for the World Matchplay of Darts Final.

It's the goal of every player who qualifies to make it to Sunday, but only two players can make it through four rounds while playing against the best players in the world.

Both players have had incredible performances in their 2025 campaign, but unfortunately, one will have to win and the other will go home as the runner-up.

Here is my prediction for the final between Littler and Wade.

Luke Littler vs. James Wade

Winner: Luke Littler, 18-15

I've learned my lesson not to pick against Littler, after the game against Rock.

Rock looked like he would prevail, leading 5-0 at break #1 and leading at points halfway through.

The only issue is that Littler can pick up his scoring fast, even when he's down, and before you know it, a lead of several legs can vanish for the opponent.

James Wade is a unique challenge for Littler. He's a slower player than Rock, but Littler has played slower tempo players recently, like in his game against Andrew Gilding.

Gilding did make it tough for Littler, as he almost made a comeback at the end of their quarterfinal game.

Ultimately, if Littler can put together a vintage 'Littler game', then he should have enough to get over the line.

He showed grit against Rock, closing the gap that he faced, the same way he did against Wattimena when he faced a large deficit.

Up until when Jonny Clayton went on a run to force the tiebreaker against Wade, Clayton struggled to keep up with the consistency and high percentage on doubles that Wade produced.

Wade can definitely hang around against Littler if he plays consistent and with a chip on his shoulder.

He'll have extra motivation after being walloped by Littler at the UK Open final earlier this year. Littler won that final 11-2 in a dominant display.

Wade wants to establish himself as one of the greats, and there's no better way to do that than through a win over the current face of the PDC.

A title win would be Wade's second career World Matchplay title, which would make him only the fourth player in World Matchplay history to have two Matchplay titles.

I don't think that Wade and Littler can top the matches we saw on Saturday, but it should be an exciting final, as both players have a lot on the line to play for.
