The former Dolphins head coach heads to LA
Well, the dream is now officially dead. Mike McDaniel is set to become the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive coordinator. It was always a long shot that he would want to come here. Even if he believed in Cam Ward, the Tennessee Titans have no weapons on offense. Whoever ends up as the OC here is going to have an uphill battle to be successful in year one.
I was hoping that, in addition to McDaniel and Saleh allegedly being friends, the idea of getting to be the head coach of the offense would be a draw for McDaniel here. In LA, he is going to have to work within the framework of what Jim Harbaugh wants to do on offense. It seems he would have more free rein here with Saleh.
There are still plenty of good candidates for Saleh to choose from as his offensive coordinator with the Titans. I laid out a few of those names earlier today.
