In the weeks leading up to the Indiana matchup in Miami, Mendoza invited his favorite rapper to attend the National Championship if the Hoosiers reached the title game. It was a challenge Uzi answered by arriving in full Indiana gear and a Mendoza jersey.

Lil Uzi Vert, whom Mendoza has called his favorite rapper, was seen smiling on the sideline, telling reporters that the atmosphere was “chill” as he watched the Heisman Trophy winner lead Indiana into its first College Football Playoff (CFP) title game.
Mendoza was initially concerned about inviting Lil Uzi Vert because he didn't have an extra ticket; fortunately, he was able to secure a sideline pass and a suite for him.
