Warren Sapp allegedly caused a stir in the hours leading up to the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Indiana Hoosiers on Monday night in South Florida.
Sapp, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and longtime Miami alumni supporter, was accused by multiple Indiana fans of behaving erratically while passing through an Indiana-affiliated pregame gathering near the stadium.
According to several accounts shared by fans on social media, Sapp rode through the area on a bicycle and appeared intoxicated while attempting to engage in confrontations with Indiana fans. Here's one account of what allegedly happened that was followed up by another. No video of the alleged incident has surfaced, and the claims have not been independently verified.

Sapp is currently a senior quality control analyst for the Colorado Buffaloes, working under head coach Deion Sanders. He joined the Buffaloes’ staff in 2024 and is entering his third season. His role has shifted at times as Colorado’s coaching staff has evolved.
Before his coaching career, Sapp was one of the most dominant defensive tackles in NFL history. He starred for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1995-2003, helping lead the franchise to a Super Bowl XXXVII title, and later finished his career with the Oakland Raiders.
Sapp played at Miami in the early 90s and won the Lombardi Award in 1994.
