Will Rennes centre-back Jérémy Jacquet (20) leave his formative side to join Chelsea FC during the winter transfer window? The Blues have made no mystery of their wish to steal a march on their European rivals and sign the highly promising France U21 international defender, who is monitored by Europe’s greatest clubs. According to Ouest-France, Rennes plan on sticking to their initial plan and retain Jacquet beyond this winter, prior to a summer move.
Les Rouge et Noir view Jacquet as one of the leading players of a team that aim a return to European football for the 2026-2027 campaign, which is why selling the centre-back would make little sense. The outlet understands that the Rennes executives remain calm on the matter, although an off-market €70m+ bid could maybe change their minds.
Ouest-France adds that Jacquet has been flattered by Chelsea’s strong interest in him, as well as by the guarantees – both sporting and financial – that the Blues could offer him. However, Jacquet didn’t request to leave and no contractual agreement has been reached between the two parties. Rennes host Lorient this Saturday.
