A crew of Big 12 officials has been assigned to work Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game between Indiana and Miami.
Indiana vs. Miami title game set to feature Big 12 officiating crew.
Brett McMurphy of On3 confirmed the assignment on Sunday night. The head official for the national title game will be Michael VanderVeld. The assignment follows the CFP’s standard practice of rotating officiating crews from conferences that do not have teams in the championship game.
Throughout the season, officials are graded, and postseason assignments are based on performance, experience, and evaluation scores. Conference crews are eligible for CFP selection regardless of whether their conference has a team in play. Monday’s game will mark the final game of the 12-team College Football Playoff season, with Indiana and Miami meeting for the national title at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
