Barcelona agree loan deal with Girona for Marc-Andre ter Stegen

The goalkeeper will join Michel’s side.

Barcelona and Girona have now agreed a deal that will see goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen join Michel’s side on loan for the rest of the season.

Fabrizio Romano reports the two clubs have now found an agreement, with Ter Stegen having already given the move the green light.

It’s previously been reported that Barcelona will pay around 90% of Ter Stegen’s salary while he plays for Girona in the second half of the campaign.

Ter Stegen has accepted the move after losing his place in the Barcelona starting XI to Joan Garcia. He’s also been told he needs to be playing regularly to keep his place as Germany’s No. 1 at World Cup 2026.

The goalkeeper has made just one appearance for Barca this season – after missing the start of the campaign after undergoing back surgery – but will now look to get back on track with Girona in La Liga.
