Jalen Ramsey's relationship with the Miami Dolphins grew increasingly fractious over his final months with the organization.

Ramsey had been on the Dolphins' chopping block since April, when general manager Chris Grier publicly disclosed the franchise's intentions to find the three-time All-Pro cornerback a new home before the start of the regular season. An anonymous rival scout told Athlon Sports' Craig Ellenport that the root cause of Ramsey's exit from the team was a falling-out with head coach Mike McDaniel.

The Dolphins' front office was eventually able to get a deal done on June 30, when the team sent Ramsey, tight end Jonnu Smith, and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

The way the organization handled the situation may have rubbed Ramsey the wrong way, and he has since carried over that ill will to his new team. Speaking to reporters in Pittsburgh for the first time on Wednesday, Ramsey took a shot at the Dolphins while expressing excitement for what is to come with the Steelers.

"I'm excited for everything that has to do with this organization. This is a storied franchise," Ramsey said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "Obviously, I won a Super Bowl and loved my time with the LA Rams, but I can't necessarily say I've played for a storied franchise like this yet."

Ramsey added insult to injury in two ways from this statement alone. The first was by characterizing the Dolphins – a team that won two Super Bowl championships and completed the only perfect season in NFL history in 1972 – as not a "storied franchise." The second was by mentioning the Los Angeles Rams as an organization he enjoyed playing for, while not bringing up the Dolphins or the Jacksonville Jaguars, his first professional football team.

For the time being, though, Ramsey's most recent comments will only make the Dolphins' and Steelers' upcoming matchup, set to take place at Acrisure Stadium on Dec. 15, all the more intriguing.
