‘I do see a lot of weaknesses’: Shakur Stevenson talks upcoming fight with Teofimo Lopez

Shakur Stevenson looks to have his coming out party at the end of the month with a big win over Teofimo Lopez.

We’re now only two weeks away from the junior welterweight showdown between Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson on Jan. 31, and looking ahead to the card DAZN drops some more behind the scenes footage of Shakur in camp as he physically prepares himself for the battle.

“I didn’t have to make this fight,” Shakur said. “I could have just stayed at 135 lbs. I made this fight because I know Teo is one of the guys at 140, he got a big resume, big accomplishments, and I know there’s going to be some doubt with people and fans when I go fight this guy.”

Shakur would then give a brief assessment of Teofimo as his team puts their game plan together.

“He’s a very good fighter but I do see a lot of weaknesses. He’s not going to correct them overnight, he’s going to be the same Teo that we done seen a thousand times before. He going to come out there trying to perform highly and I’m going to take advantage of it. But as far as the weaknesses, I’m going to keep them to myself.”

If Shakur is able to dismantle Teofimo, he’ll soon have the opportunity to do so in front of the entire world on the biggest stage he’s been on thus far, and we’ll be here with full live coverage of the event.
