Exeter City loanee Timur Tutierov has "big potential" after scoring on his debut, says manager Gary Caldwell.

The Ukraine Under-21 international moved to the League One side on loan from Premier League club Sunderland last week.

Having come on after an hour, the 20-year-old winger scored deep in stoppage time to secure a 3-0 win over Stevenage at St James Park.

He is the first player to move to the club during the January transfer window.

"He's someone we've been looking at for a while," Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon. "We got him in to train maybe four to six weeks ago.

"I think for us moving forward, it is a really good set up on how we get loan players because they learn about us, we find out more about the character and what is needed to play for us.

"Me and Perks (first-team coach David Perkins) went out for dinner with him and really got to know him as a person, and it was a no-brainer once we got to know him.

"His willingness to come, his desire to be a player, and I think you could see the threat he has - his speed is devastating and for his first game he will get better, but he looks like he wants to score goals.

"He looks like he wants to run on the last line and it's something we've been looking for all season.

"So I think he has big potential, but still a lot of work to do to get used to how we play and to integrate in, but it was a brilliant start for him."
