Florida A&M basketball and the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions split their Southwestern Athletic Conference doubleheader down the middle at H.O. Clemmons Arena in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on Saturday, Jan. 17.
The Rattlers women’s basketball team (4-12, 3-2 in SWAC) fell to the Golden Lions (6-10, 3-3 in SWAC) 63-53, snapping a three-game winning streak.
FAMU led 33-22 at halftime but squandered it late. The Golden Lions outscored the Rattlers 17-8 in the fourth quarter.
FAMU guard Shaniyah McCarthy had 12 points and added nine rebounds and four assists. Camille Jackson also led the Rattlers in scoring with 12 points and contributed three rebounds and four assists, respectively.
As for FAMU men’s basketball (6-9, 3-1 in SWAC), it beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff (6-12, 3-2 in SWAC) 71-67.
The Rattlers had three players in double figures, with guard Jaquan Sanders leading with 18 points. Jordan Chatman added 17, and Miles Ndalama scored 15 points.
FAMU men’s basketball returns to action at Mississippi Valley State on Monday, Jan. 19, for a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day matchup. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on SWAC TV.
FAMU women’s basketball’s next game will be at home at the Al Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center versus Jackson State on Thursday, Jan. 22. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. on SWAC TV.
