Texas A&M continues to impress early in the Bucky McMillan era, taking down the Texas Longhorns 74-70 at the Moody Center in Austin on Saturday night. The Aggies were paced by Rashaun Agee’s 17 points and 11 rebounds to take down the rival Horns and move to 4-1 in SEC play.

After being tied at halftime, the Aggies hit a three-pointer to open the second half and would never trail over the remainder of the game, with their lead swelling to double digits multiple times over the final 20 minutes. In particular, the Aggies’ three point shooting (40% to Texas’ 29%) and bench scoring (2o to 6) helped pave the way for their win.

With the win, the Aggies remain tied for the lead in the SEC standings (alongside 4-1 Florida), with their only loss being a double-OT game in Knoxville earlier this week. Meanwhile, Texas falls to 2-3 in conference play and is now tied for 11th place in the SEC. A&M also now leads the Cotton Holdings Lonestar Showdown standings 4.5 t0 1, with football being the only matchup the Aggies have lost thus far this season.

The Aggies’ return home for their next game, hosting Mississippi State at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The game will air on SEC Network.
