SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Lake View High School Maidens and Chiefs welcomed District 5-4A newcomer Frenship Memorial to town for the first time Friday night, and they salvaged a split at Ben Norton gym.
The Maidens were looking for their first district win of the season, but the Lady Panthers were too strong, as they rolled to a 79-14 victory.
Memorial, a school in Wolfforth that came into existence this past August, improved to 20-7 overall and 6-0 in district. The Lake View girls dropped to 2-22 and 0-5.
The Lake View boys were determined not to let the Panthers pull off a sweep on the road, as the Chiefs celebrated a second-straight district win with a 58-50 decision.
The Chiefs are now 19-9 and 2-2, and the Panthers dropped to 14-11 and 2-2. The Memorial boys are coached by C.J. Villegas, a former head coach at San Angelo Central who was the athletic director and head boys basketball coach at Brady last year.
