MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) – Fruita beats Montrose 59-35. The win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Wildcats.
The game started back and forth. Montrose led by one after the first quarter. Fruita turned up the heat from that point on.
The Wildcats scored 22 in the second quarter. The Fruita press presented issues for Montrose. The Wildcats held their opponent to just six points in the second quarter.
Fruita led 33-18 at the half and held that lead throughout the game. The final score was 59-35.
Both teams are 10-4 heading into the weekend. Montrose has one more nonconference game on Tuesday against Montezuma Cortez. Fruita head to play its rival Grand Junction on Tuesday at 7.
