Kicker reports that Augsburg’s David Colina is headed out on loan again. The heavily-capped Croatia U21 international – after back-to-back loan stints with Vejle Boldklub in Denmark – will return to his native country this time. NK Osijek will take the 25-year-old on loan. Colina’s Bundesliga club will pocket a €100,000 loan fee. The player remains under contract with Augsburg until 2027.

Colina was among several loan returnees with no prospects in new FCA head coach Sandro Wagner’s personnel plans.Signed by the Fuggerstädter for €650,000 from Hajduk Split during the January 2023 transfer window, Colina made all seven of his Bundesliga appearances during the second half of the 2022/23 campaign.

Colina scored off the bench in his very first Bundesliga appearance, notching a dramatic late equalizer against Borussia Dortmund in what would end in a 4-3 away defeat. Colina nevertheless never even managed to earn a Bundesliga start after that. The remaining six league appearances under then FCA head coach Enrico Maaßen all came in relief.

Colina’s case mirrors that of several professionals former Augsburg chief personnel executive Stefan Reuter acquired during the January 2023 window. Colina, French striker Irvin Cardona, now Chelsea centre-back Renato Veiga, Swiss winger Nathanaël Mbuku, and Italian striker Kelvin Yeboah all failed to gain traction with the Bavarian Swabians.

Colina’s Croatian compatriot Dion Drena Beljo was also acquired during that window. Beljo – who joined that January from Colina’s future loan club – was recently sold outright to Dinamo Zagreb. Colina and German defender Maximilian Bauer are the only two players acquired during that busy month still possessing an FCA contract.
