According to VI insiders, Jordan Zirkzee is on trial at Anderlecht. The 20-year-old striker, younger brother of Dutch striker Joshua, will have the opportunity to earn a contract with the Belgian top club.
Zirkzee currently plays for NAC Breda. The striker played for the reserves last season and trained regularly with the first team. However, after participating in part of the pre-season preparations for the new season, manager Carl Hoefkens demoted him to the second team.
In Breda, Sydney van Hooijdonk and the talented Pepijn Reulen (17) are above him in the pecking order. Hoefkens wasn’t a big fan of Zirkzee, who reportedly has a similar playing style as his older brother.
Because he’s out of contract, Zirkzee is now free to come and go as he pleases. Initially, the striker will join RSCA Futures, where he can prove himself. In Brussels, Zirkzee can now secure a contract.
The attacker will train with his brother in the coming days, hoping to earn a stay at his former club. The Manchester United striker scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in his only season in Belgium. Now his brother can follow in his footsteps at Anderlecht.
