LAFC announced that the club and midfielder Yaw Yeboah have mutually agreed to part ways, officially terminating the 28-year-old’s contract and making him a free agent.

The decision brings a quiet and abrupt end to Yeboah’s brief tenure in Los Angeles. Signed ahead of the 2025 season, Yeboah joined LAFC on a two-year deal after the club acquired his MLS rights from San Diego FC, which selected him in the Re-Entry Draft following Columbus Crew’s decision not to re-sign him. At the time, LAFC viewed Yeboah as a versatile addition capable of contributing across multiple roles in midfield and on the wing.

On the field, however, Yeboah struggled to find a consistent role. During the 2025 season, he appeared in 17 MLS matches, totaling 462 minutes, and recorded one goal with no assists. He also made limited appearances in Leagues Cup and the Club World Cup, largely featuring as a depth option rather than a regular contributor.

That lone goal stood as his only scoring moment in Black & Gold.

Yeboah’s LAFC stint was complicated further in late October, when MLS placed him on administrative leave pending a league review. The move came just before the MLS Cup Playoffs and sidelined Yeboah during the postseason. While the league did not publicly disclose the nature of the potential rules violations, the decision was described as precautionary while the investigation remains ongoing.

The ending contrasts sharply with Yeboah’s prior success in MLS. Before arriving in Los Angeles, he spent three seasons with the Columbus Crew, making 93 appearances across all competitions and playing a role in one of the club’s most successful periods. Most notably, Yeboah scored in the 2023 MLS Cup Final against LAFC, helping Columbus secure a 2-1 victory in that match. He was also part of the Crew squads that won Leagues Cup and Campeones Cup during his time in Ohio.

LAFC hoped that experience would translate into production and depth in midfield. Instead, Yeboah’s time with the club never gained traction, and his season ended prematurely amid uncertainty.

With the contract termination, LAFC open additional roster flexibility moving forward, while Yeboah enters free agency as his league status remains unresolved. For now, both sides appear focused on turning the page, closing a chapter that never fully developed as planned.
