Are you in the minority that thinks Robert Saleh returns to the 49ers in 2026?
San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh was expected to be a strong candidate for this head coaching cycle. He will interview for five of the nine vacant head-coaching positions. A week from now, that number could be higher.
Let’s act as if a team hires Saleh away from the 49ers, regardless of what happens this weekend or the rest of the playoffs. Where do you believe Saleh will be coaching during the 2026 regular season? Where would you want him to land?
Thursday night’s interview with the Arizona Cardinals comes off as Saleh’s agent telling him to knock it out, knowing that’s where they don’t want to be. He’ll interview on Sunday for the Titans job. Tennessee has the fourth overall pick and desperately needs help for Cam Ward, not to mention the lack of talent in the secondary.
Signing up for the Cardinals and Titans jobs is a gig that somebody would sign up for if it’s their first head coaching job and they’re ready to turn the page from being a coordinator. That’s not where Saleh is in his career.
It’s a no-brainer for me. Go to Baltimore, Bob. Draft a pass rusher in the first round. Add another after that. Sign some depth in free agency and enjoy a deep playoff run next year. Hire Mike McDaniel to run your offense, provided he’s available, and you’re talking about a Super Bowl favorite.
What’s your answer? Scroll down and let us know in the comments, especially if it’s staying with the 49ers.
