Derrick Köhn has been given a two-match ban for 1.FC Union Berlin by the sports court of the German Football Association (DFB).

The 26-year-old was sent off by referee Florian Badstübner in FC Union's 1-1 draw with FC Augsburg on Thursday evening.

Whilst dueling for a high ball, Köhn attempted to clear his lines but instead caught Augsburg striker Samuel Essende around the face.

The incident – which happened in the 89th- minute at the WWK Arena – required no VAR intervention as a straight red card was shown.

As a result, Köhn will sit in the stands for the Köpenick clubs games with VfB Stuttgart (18 Jan) and away to Borussia Dortmund (24 Jan).

Union Berlin and Köhn have both accepted the ruling of the DFB sports court, which is now legally binding.
