Pirates announce 2026 MLB Spring Training dates

The Bucs will be playing baseball soon.

It’s been a Pittsburgh winter this year, definitely colder and more precipitation than in years past, and I’m pretty much over winter at this point. Which makes it all that more special that the Pittsburgh Pirates released their 2026 MLB Spring Training dates yesterday.

We’re only roughly three weeks from pitchers and catchers, y’all, as they report on February 9. Then a week later, the Bucs have their first full-squad workout on February 16. The Bucs then play their first MLB Preseason game on February 21 against the Baltimore Orioles, before following the up with a split-squad game the next day against the Philadelphia Phillies.

With the season so close to starting, the Bucs have about a month to finish tightening up the roster. There’s still need at third base, relief pitcher, and in the outfield. The team certainly needs another bat. Jeff Passan has been saying the team has one more move left, and that’s a good thing, but I for one am getting anxious to see what that move is.

As for the regular season, the Bucs first game is on the road on March 26 versus the New York Mets. They follow up that three-game series with another three-gamer versus the Cincinnati Reds before having their home opener on April 3 versus the Baltimore Orioles.

It’s a season with the most promise in years, and we won’t have that much longer to wait until we get to see our Buccos in action again.
