Everything is finally looking like it is falling the way of the Vegas Golden Knights lately.

On Wednesday, the Golden Knights were able to push their winning streak up to five games with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the Los Angeles Kings.

The first period was far from the best from the Golden Knights, with the Kings swarming them early on both ends of the ice. Fortunately, the play of goaltender Akira Schmid saved the road team, and they were fortunate to leave the ice in a scoreless game with only five shots through 20 minutes.

Desperate for anything to go their way, the Golden Knights finally delivered in the second period.

Getting to their forecheck that has been a recipe for success as of late, the Golden Knights were able to force a turnover. From there, Jack Eichel found Braeden Bowman all alone in front of the net. Out-waiting Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper, Bowman was able to roof the puck to get the Golden Knights on the board first.

The Kings would make a push for the rest of the period, but Schmid would continue to hold the line.

In the third, however, the dam broke as the feeling out process between both teams came to an end.

To start, the Kings would tie it on their first zone entry of the third. After some sustained pressure, Schmid was beaten by soon-to-be teammate on Team Switzerland Kevin Fiala to even the game at one.

Shortly after, however, the Golden Knights power play took over. Taking advantage of a hook by Adrian Kempe, Mitch Marner was able to find some open ice and take advantage with a shot. The power play marker is Marner’s 11th point in the last 10 games against the Kings.

However, the Kings would not go away, as a faceoff in an empty net situation lead to Brandt Clarke taking advantage of the extra attacker. With the game tied at two, it was off to overtime once again for the Golden Knights.

However, this time would end differently in Vegas’ favor. On the two-on-one with Mark Stone, Jack Eichel made an outstanding diving play to get the puck in the slot before colliding with the boards. The captain would make good on his teammate’s play, firing the puck past Kuemper to secure the second point for the Golden Knights.

The next game will be of one of incredible importance for the Golden Knights, returning to T-Mobile Arena for Marner’s first game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
