Can the Wildcats avoid an 0-4 start to Big 12 play?
The Kansas State Wildcats are staring back at some ugly history.
With the clean sweep in the desert, the Cats have started the season at 9-7 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play. It’s the worst start to the conference slate since 2022, when Bruce Weber’s squad, in his last season in Manhattan, opened Big 12 play at 0-4. Matching that is certainly in the cards for the TangCats.
They’ll attempt to prevent that tonight against UCF, who is off to a 13-2 start to the season, and sit at 2-1 in Big 12 play after beating KU and Cincinnati in Orlando, but falling hard against Oklahoma State in Stillwater last week. That loss to the Pokes came on just their second trip outside the state of Florida in the regular season, putting the Knights at 1-1 in true road games.
Despite the struggles of K-State this season, they have been usually decent at home, which hopefully will give them a leg up against the visitors who are still receiving votes on the back of beating KU. But it’s still very possible that an Actually Good UCF team comes to Bramlage and leaves the Sunflower State with yet another win this season.
On a positive note, it’s going to be a lightly-watched affair, as this game is being streamed on Peacock and NBC Sports Now, so no cable/YouTubeTV options for this one.
We’ve got an 7:02pm CT tipoff from Bramlage Coliseum, and you can catch the action streaming on Peacock with Pete Sousa (play-by-play) and Brendan Haywood (analyst) on the call.
If you don’t have Peacock, the game can be heard across portions of the 28-station K-State Sports Network with Wyatt Thompson (play-by-play) and Stan Weber (analyst) calling the action. The game will also be available online at K-Statesports.com and via the Varsity Network app, as well as on satellite radio at Sirius/XM Ch. 392. Live stats are also available at k-statesports.com, and social media updates (@KStateMBB) will also be a part of the coverage.
Go Cats!
