Oregon transfer cornerback Sione Laulea commits to Mizzou

The Tigers added a second former Duck to their new-look secondary

Missouri continued its rebuild of the secondary through the transfer portal Wednesday, securing the commitment of Oregon cornerback Sione Laulea.

The Mountain View, California, native is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining. Laulea became the second former Duck to commit to the Tigers this offseason, joining fellow cornerback Jahlil Florence.

He appeared in 10 games over the last two seasons for Oregon, recording 10 total tackles alongside four pass breakups. The 6-foot-4 defender has one interception in his career at the Division I level, picking off Illinois’ Luke Altmeyer in 2024.

Laulea was a highly touted transfer two seasons ago out of San Mateo College, receiving a host of power conference offers after being rated as the second-best junior college transfer in the nation. He saw limited playing time with the Ducks but is likely to compete for a starting role at Mizzou.

The Tigers have now brought in five defensive backs this offseason. MU added JaDon Blair from Notre Dame, Kensley Louidor-Faustin from Auburn and Elijah Dotson from Michigan alongside the two Oregon transfers.

Mizzou lost its three starting cornerbacks — Stephen Hall, Dreyden Norwood and Toriano Pride Jr. — to graduation this offseason. The five incoming transfers, alongside returning players including Santana Banner, Nick DeLoach Jr., Trajen Greco and Cameron Keys, will make up a Tigers secondary that looks dramatically different than it did last season.
