Villarreal star agrees move to Lazio

Villarreal star Alfonso Pedraza has informed the club’s board of his intention to depart in the summer transfer window.

This comes with the full-back having made the call to join Serie A outfit Lazio on a free transfer.

Pedraza has found himself somewhat in and out of the starting XI in Marcelino’s Villarreal squad across the season to date, with 11 starts in all competitions to his name.

The Spaniard has nevertheless continued to produce at a solid level across these outings, boasting a goal and three assists thus far.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract at La Cerámica in the summer, a number of clubs from across the continent have in turn long been expressing an interest in Pedraza’s signature.

And as alluded to above, this week, one such suitor appear to have beaten out the competition.

As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Villarreal have been informed that Alfonso Pedraza will be a new Lazio player on a contract valid until June 2028 plus option to extend. Deal agreed for the summer, could be anticipated in January if Nuno Tavares leaves Lazio.’
