Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike, and…Vincent Kompany all late for team bus

The FC Bayern boss needed his coffee.

Welp…cancel the game!

According to a report from Bild, Bayern Munich youngsters Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike were late for team bus after (probably) getting stuck in morning traffic during their commute from the youth player apartments at Säbener Straße:

Shooting star Lennart Karl (17) arrived at the club center of the German record champions on Wednesday morning for the meeting point before FC Bayern ‘s Bundesliga away game against 1. FC Köln (8:30 pm/RTL and Sky) together with his campus friend Wisdom Mike (17). The two got out of the car at 9:50 am, five minutes after the agreed meeting time.

It’s possible that the youngsters took a little longer than expected to get from the Freimann district to Säbener Straße due to Munich’s heavy morning traffic. Karl and Mike both still live in apartments on the FC Bayern Campus. With a commute of just over half an hour, they therefore need considerably more time to reach the club offices than most of their teammates, who predominantly live in nearby Harlaching or Grünwald.

Given that the kids were likely at the mercy of a driving service provided by the club, they should be okay to play today vs. FC Köln.

The youngsters were not alone is missing the agreed upon time for the team bus to depart, though. Head coach Vincent Kompany was also late arriving. Kompany was casually strolling — coffee in hand — because if there is one guy the bus will wait for, it is the boss:

The young talents weren’t the only ones who arrived a little late. A curious scene unfolded about an hour later.

When Bayern Munich team manager Maciej Jagiellowicz gave the order to depart at 10:53 a.m., one of the bus drivers noticed that a crucial figure was still missing: coach Vincent Kompany (39). Upon the bus driver’s comment, Jagiellowicz dryly replied: “Then he’s out of luck.”

Just then, Kompany sprinted into the team locker room with a coffee in his hand to grab his winter jacket. Only then did the Bayern coach casually stroll towards the team bus, signing two autographs for waiting fans on his way.

Look, Kompany needed that coffee (and who can blame him?), though it would have been quite the sight if Uli Hoeneß emerged and unleashed this NSFW tirade about the coach being a few minutes late.
