Michael Carrick says he wants to tap into the "magical" nature of Manchester United during his stint in caretaker charge until the end of the season.
Speaking to the club's website, Carrick explained it was an "unbelievable feeling" to be back working at the training ground.
Asked how he wants fans to feel during games under his leadership, he said: "It's a magical place, isn't it? It's always the mystique of what can happen.
"Going to games, sitting there, standing there - however you're watching the game - expecting something to happen and getting excited by it.
"There's going to be times we play really well, there's going to be times where it might be a little bit more difficult - that's football. It's not always smooth. That's the magic.
"I can really get attached to and feel that emotion. That's so important and that's what this club's all about, and it has been for so long. But history is one thing - earning it and doing it in the next game is something else, and that's what we have got to do."
Carrick, who took caretaker charge for three games in 2021 - winning two - believes that previous stint will help him this time around.
Asked for a message for fans, he said: "I'm one of them. We give our best. It's a huge opportunity for me to be in this position.
"Come on Saturday with everything you've got - full of enthusiasm, full of energy. Support us in the good times, the struggling times, the rough times.
"Have that energy and enthusiasm to see something special in the next moment or the next game - or whatever it is. To feel that passion. And that's it."
