Former Chiefs QB Alex Smith Reveals Who Andy Reid Could Hire As New OC To Replace Matt Nagy | Pro Football Network

The Chiefs will be searching for a new offensive coordinator this offseason, and former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith shared his thoughts on who the team might target. Smith joined Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” to discuss the Chiefs’ next steps.

“Oh, I wouldn’t be shocked if they bring (Mike) Kafka back… Andy (Reid) just rarely brings somebody outside of his circle,” Smith said.

The Chiefs’ offense appeared to grow stale this past season, and a new voice could help rejuvenate the unit. Mike Kafka served as the New York Giants’ interim head coach this season and has a long-standing relationship with Reid. Kafka was the Chiefs’ quarterbacks coach from 2018 to 2021 and also played quarterback under Reid in 2011 with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Smith noted that Reid runs the offense and calls the plays, meaning the offensive coordinator role in Kansas City may not be especially enticing. Still, it will be interesting to see whether the Chiefs turn to a Reid disciple or look outside his coaching tree.

Eagles sign former Chiefs fullback | Bleeding Green Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles are wasting no time building their 2026 roster, and after signing eight players to future contracts on Monday, they are reportedly bringing in a fullback. Former Chiefs RB Carson Steele is expected to sign with the Eagles, according to his agent.

Steele played in 17 games as a rookie for Kansas City in 2024, started three of them, and recorded 183 yards on 56 carries, including 14 first downs. He was slightly involved in the passing game and caught 7-of-11 targets, for an additional 26 yards. In the not great category, Steele also had three fumbles throughout the season. He also briefly contributed on special teams as a kick returner, taking five kicks for 138 yards, with his longest return going for 31 yards.

Thanks for the Memories Award: Isiah Pacheco

Isiah Pacheco had a respectable career in Kansas City. He was the starting running back on the Chiefs’ back-to-back championship teams in 2022 and 2023 and was a high-level contributor in both seasons, averaging north of 4.5 yards per carry each year. Unfortunately, a fractured fibula suffered in Week 2 of the 2024 season halted Pacheco’s trajectory and resulted in a precipitous decline. Since returning from the aforementioned injury later that season, the 2022 seventh-round pick’s effectiveness has steadily gone downhill. In fact, Pacheco, an impending free agent, has failed to reach 60 rushing yards in a single game since returning from the injury. While it is undeniable that the Rutgers product had some great moments in a Chiefs uniform, there is little reason for him to be on the roster in 2026.

3 Free Agent DLs the Chiefs Can Sign to Make Chris Jones’ Life Easier | KC Kingdom

1. David Onyemata

The veteran pass rusher was a part of a roster with the second-highest sack total in the league, trailing only the Denver Broncos. While the Atlanta Falcons didn’t have one clear star piling up sacks, Onyemata deserves credit for setting up so many plays by doing the dirty work on the inside. The veteran finished the season with one lone sack, but was far more impactful than this number might suggest.

Understanding the defender’s impact only requires turning on the tape and watching the intensity he brought to the middle of Atlanta’s defense. Even at this late stage of his career, Onyemata is a force on the inside that sets up pass rushers for easier matchups on the outside and breaks the integrity of the pocket.

1. Baltimore Ravens

Best guess: Jesse Minter, defensive coordinator, Los Angeles Chargers

The Ravens remain the top opening on our list, and you can check out our reasons why in the initial piece. I am staying with Jesse Minter because, as one league source pointed out, he is the only candidate thus far to get a clean sweep of interviews with every team that has a vacancy. That means, by process of elimination, he’s probably getting one. And a good one at that.

However, owner Steve Bisciotti has thrown me for a loop by talking about candidates who were hot “five or six years ago” and had to “grind it out” in places with suboptimal talent. That would favor coaches such as Vance Joseph, Brian Flores and Kevin Stefanski.

Vikings’ Jordan Addison charged with trespassing after arrest | ESPN

Minnesota Vikings receiver Jordan Addison was arrested early Monday morning and charged with misdemeanor trespassing in Tampa, Florida, according to police records.

It is his third brush with law enforcement since the Vikings made him the No. 23 selection in the 2023 draft.

This week’s arrest became public Tuesday morning, shortly before Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and coach Kevin O’Connell were set to give their annual end-of-season news conferences. Both said they had only recently learned of the incident and declined to speculate on the organization’s response.

Chiefs’ Andy Reid moves to top of NFL’s seniority list: Good or bad?

With those changes, there is now just one NFL head coach who has been with his team for at least 10 seasons: Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who has served as the team’s head coach since the 2013 season.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Reid has been there four years longer than Sean McDermott, Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan, who took their jobs with the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers in 2017. Two other coaches — the Cincinnati Bengals’ Zac Taylor and the Green Bay Packers’ Matt LeFleur — debuted in 2019.
