And that means fans of college football and ESPN's College Gameday, along with fans of sports in general, either love him or hate him.
The needle is moving in a less than ideal direction.
For three consecutive seasons, The Athletic has taken a fan survey of college football viewers, and one of the questions they've asked has been how fans feel about McAfee on College Gameday.
The support for McAfee has declined each season.
Now, 49.5% of fans voted that they dislike McAfee on ESPN's flagship college football show.
Does that mean anything? Probably not.

McAfee's popularity remains sky high, and people watch him to see what he's going to do even if they don't like him.
Gameday ratings in general are up, so there isn't great incentive for ESPN to change what it's doing.
The company has also given McAfee a variety of specialty broadcasts during college football's postseason, too, which have been popular for a few seasons now, as well.
It's clear that McAfee resonates with enough college football fans that ESPN will keep trotting him out there, even if there are some that don't like him. He's too much of a draw to lose now.
