Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton is facing criticism after allegedly using a video created by the program’s graphics department to announce his decision to enter the transfer portal.
According to a post by RedditCFB on X, sources familiar with the situation say the video was produced under the assumption that Seaton was preparing to announce his return to Colorado, not his departure. Instead, the highly produced clip was ultimately repurposed by Seaton to reveal his intent to leave the program, catching Colorado staff off guard.
While no rules were violated, the situation has reignited debate around transparency, especially with growing gray areas in the transfer portal era.

Seaton, a former five-star recruit and the highest-rated signee Colorado had landed in more than a decade, became one of the most coveted offensive linemen in the portal after announcing his decision. His departure already represented a significant blow for coach Deion Sanders and the Buffs, who had already lost 33 scholarship players.

The bidding war for Seaton is expected to start at $2.5 million. That figure is reportedly the amount told to a Florida booster. Shortly before committing to Colorado, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound lineman was offered a multi-million dollar contract by Tennessee. He ultimately turned it down to protect Shedeur Sanders during his final year before getting drafted by the Cleveland Browns.
Seaton will have two years remaining at his next stop.
