Jason Kelce is not pleased with the Philadelphia Eagles' exit from the 2025 NFL Playoffs, calling out his former NFL team for their "mediocre" and "unacceptable" performance.

While Jason Kelce retired from the league in March 2024, the Super Bowl champion revealed he is still invested in the team's performance and is disappointed the current roster will not have a chance to compete for another title.

Jason Kelce Calls Out 'Mediocre' Philadelphia Eagles Players

Philadelphia Eagles fans were hopeful their team would return to the Super Bowl in February 2026. However, they've been adjusting to their new reality after losing to Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, January 11, in a 24-19 thriller.

On the Jan. 12 broadcast of ESPN's "Monday Night Countdown," Jason addressed his former team's performance, admitting it wasn't "the best" before criticizing the athletes for failing to get the job done.

"They had the No. 1, highest-paid offense in the league and were mediocre across the board. That’s unacceptable," he said. "They had their chances to win that game yesterday, and the players didn’t make the plays! Alright? That’s all I’m going to leave it at."

Speaking with reporters after the game, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts addressed his team's shortcomings following their stellar 2024 record.

"I think winning is hard. Nothing about it is easy, especially when you’re trying to repeat," Hurts noted. "Everything was clear for us and what we wanted to accomplish this year, and we came up short, and so you have no choice but to learn from it, especially if you have a great passion about it."

Hurts continued, taking ownership of the team's loss. "It all starts with me and ends with me," he said.

Hurts was not alone in his thinking, as star running back Saquon Barkley weighed in on his team's loss and echoed the stance of Hurts and Jason.

Barkley called the Eagles' downfall "a common theme for us this year," adding that the squad of superstar athletes has done a poor job at "playing complete football" when it matters most.

"Sometimes, you get into this moment and [think] we’ll just figure this out. And it just caught up to us. It’s been the same thing all year," Barkley said.

The team's head coach, Nick Sirianni, also shared what he believes went wrong, calling the team's inability to come together as one their "story."

"... good first half, didn’t do a good enough job coaching, didn’t do a good enough job executing in the second half, in that third quarter particularly," he said. "Some penalties got us behind the sticks, and we had a hard time overcoming them."

According to a report from The Blast, Jason also weighed in on his brother, Travis Kelce, and his possible retirement after the Kansas City Chiefs were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday, Dec. 14.

After entering the league in 2013 and securing three Super Bowl wins, Jason told his "MNF" co-hosts that he, too, had questions about his brother's future in the league.

"I'm curious too," Jason said. "In my opinion, to nail that decision, you've got to step away from the game for a little bit."

And while he waits, Jason gave Travis (who's also gearing up for his lavish wedding with pop star Taylor Swift) a bit of solid advice.

"Play these last three games, enjoy them with your teammates, enjoy that with your coaches," he said. "The team's going to be different whether you come back or not next year. So, enjoy these last three games and then let it sink in. It'll come to you with time."

The retirement conversation likely hits close to home for Jason, who announced his departure from the league in March 2024.

His emotional, 40-minute speech sparked a range of reactions from fans and team leaders, including Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie, who said it would be "difficult" to sum up Jason's importance to the organization.

"He gave everything he had to all of us for 13 years, and he did it in a way that was truly authentic. Jason was an incredible football player; a future Hall of Famer who would have been successful anywhere. But has there ever been a more perfect marriage between a player, a city, and a team?"
