Jesse Minter to interview for Miami Dolphins head coaching vacancy.
The Miami Dolphins continue to add names to their head coaching interview request list — with Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter being the latest candidate for the job per sources.
Minter’s Chargers just got bounced from the first round of the NFL Playoffs by the New England Patriots on Sunday night, however his overall body of work for the 2025 season is quite impressive. Los Angeles ranked fifth in total defense — allowing just 285.2 yards per game and a total of 35 touchdowns in 17 regular season games. The Chargers gave up 179.9 passing yards per game, while allowing 105.4 rushing yards per contest.
Prior to his time in Los Angeles, Minter was the defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan in 2022 and their National Championship 2023 season.
Minter is a hot name in this coaching cycle — with all 8 teams with openings requesting an interview with the 42-year-old candidate. He has interviews with the Tennessee Titans and Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday.
Considering his ties to the University of Michigan and the Harbaugh family, it wouldn’t be farfetched to assume that Minter could be a candidate to follow John Harbaugh to Miami if the Dolphins were to land the “big fish” during this hiring process — that is, if John’s brother Jim decided to shake up his staff in Los Angeles and if Minter were to strike-out on head coaching jobs elsewhere.
We will continue to keep you updated on Miami’s coaching search as formal interviews begin to take place this week.
