Koulibaly: Senegal will not “Make Calculations” against Egypt despite suspension threats

Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly insists the Teranga Lions will focus solely on reaching the AFCON 2025 final against Egypt on Wednesday even with seven player at risk of suspension.

Egypt and Senegal meet in Tangier in heavyweight semi final that revives memories of the 2021 final where the West Africans lifted their first continental crown.

Senegal arrive with strong momentum but faces dilemma as seven players are on the brink since any further caution will complicate their qualification for the final..

Koulibaly explained that these concerns will not affect Senegal's journey in AFCON 2025.

“Our focus entirely on reaching the final.. We will not make calculations. We are at the service of our people. The priority is qualification ,, regardless of individual risks” he told Moroccan outlet Le Buteur.

The 34 year old admitted that some of the cards shown earlier in tournament were harsh but refused to consider them obstacle.

“We will try to get as few cards as possible. I think some bookings were tough but we will not complain. We are happy to be in the semi finals,” he said.

Koulibaly underlined the squad’s collective mindset stressing that names and situations do not matter at this stage.
