SV Hamburg confirmed on Monday that the departure of sporting director Stefan Kuntz is linked to allegations of serious misconduct.
The split at the turn of the year was originally put down to family reasons, but the Bild newspaper reported accusations against Kuntz at the weekend.
"We immediately sought clarification over the incidents upon learning of the allegations, in line with our responsibilities and with the support of specialized external lawyers," the Hamburg supervisory board said in a statement.
The board said it then looked for "the quickest possible separation," after "allegations of serious misconduct by Stefan Kuntz."
The former Germany international rejected the allegations on his Instagram account.
"First of all, I would like to say that the allegations hit me hard. What is clear is: I strongly reject these allegations," his statement read.
Kuntz added that he had engaged his lawyers "in the interests of my family and all those close to me." According to Kuntz, they should take action "against these FALSE allegations and prejudgements."
Kuntz took the job in May 2024 and oversaw Hamburg's return to the Bundesliga last term.
