The striker’s actions have come under scrutiny.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has taken aim at Kylian Mbappe after the Real Madrid superstar was spotted urging his team-mates not to give the Catalan giants a guard of honour after their Super Cup win.
Television cameras picked out an unhappy looking Mbappe apparently urging the players back to the dressing room and Laporta spoke about the incident after the match.
“I’m surprised by what he did. In victory and in defeat, you have to be generous and respectful. This is sport, and you have to behave normally. I think that in our victory, we were generous and respectful of the opposing team. That’s why I can’t understand it,” he said, as reported by AS.
Laporta also spoke about his team’s performance and said they were eager to make up for their defeat to Madrid in La Liga back in October.
“There was a difference in attitude since the league match, and the players were a bit fired up. It’s understandable. To be honest, I didn’t see Mbappé’s outburst on the pitch, but I imagine it must have been a very difficult time. They must have been really upset, and that’s why they reacted that way.”
