The chants of Chelsea fans are a hot topic right now.

The supporters – especially away – reached breaking point with the ownership after the sacking of Enzo Maresca. The Man City and Fulham games since then were rife with anti BlueCo and particularly anti Behdad Eghbali chants.

Those continued at Charlton last night – reaching new levels of ferocity even as Chelsea one. Roman Abramovich’s name was being chanted within a minute of the game starting.

But those supporters have made it clear that it’s not against their managers – they sang Enzo Maresca’s name up until the end, and Liam Rosenior got similar treatment last night after his first match in charge.

As Bobby Vincent noted from the game, the away support serenaded the new gaffer with a lovely rendition of “Liam, Liam, Liam.”

Rosenior was asked post game for his thoughts on the anti-ownership chants:

“If your fans are happy, it means you’re doing a good job. All I am going to focus on at the moment is working as hard as I possibly can to help this team achieve the potential, the unlimited potential that it has.”

If we keep winning, the fans will keep supporting the manager. But the ownership may be too far gone to recovered fans’ support, no matter how well the rest of the season goes.

In other news…

Jorrel Hato played in an usual role last night, in a similar inverted left sided half space setup to the one we saw Marc Cucurella play in a lot under Enzo Maresca. It looks like that’s something that will continue under Liam Rosenior.

Hato lashed in a superb goal for the Blues last night, and it was very notable that he didn’t celebrate. He explained that decision to Chelsea TV after the game.
