It's not an ideal day for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

They lost a freshman transfer to Vanderbilt on Sunday morning. And on Sunday afternoon, a transfer they thought they were getting chose to leave for Texas.

On3 Sports reported that Hollywood Smothers is joining the Longhorns.

Smothers was originally committed to come to 'Bama from the Wolfpack.

Hollywood announced on Jan. 5 that he was going to come to Alabama.

It took less than a week for that to change.

In 2025, he ran for 939 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 37 catches for 189 yards and a TD.

Smothers began his college career at Oklahoma.

According to On3, he was the No. 2 RB in the portal so far this offseason.

Smothers was originally a three-star prospect out of Charlotte, N.C., when he enrolled with the Sooners.

Texas lost both Tre Wisner and CJ Baxter to the transfer portal, so landing Smothers is a big deal.
