Georgia football LB transfers to ACC school

Georgia Bulldogs transfer linebacker and former four-star recruit Kris Jones has committed to an ACC school

The Georgia Bulldogs lost linebacker Kris Jones, a former four-star recruit, to the transfer portal about a week ago. Now, Jones has committed to the Boston College Eagles. Jones was also considering Virginia Tech and Kentucky.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker should get more playing time with Boston College. Jones is ranked as the No. 11 linebacker in the portal and the No. 142 player overall. Jones is ranked as a three-star transfer, according to 247Sports.

Jones recently finished his redshirt freshman season with UGA and has three years of eligibility remaining. Jones should immediately compete for a starting role with Boston College.

Jones was a team player for Georgia in 2025. He played outside linebacker to help UGA's pass rush, but he is a more natural fit at inside linebacker and will likely play that position at Boston College.

In 2025, Jones played in all 14 Georgia games and recorded seven tackles. He played both defense and special teams and helped Georgia win an SEC championship. Jones is from Stafford, Virginia.

Jones is one of 21 transfers committed to Boston College. The Eagles and coach Bill O'Brien have the No. 37 transfer portal class in the country. Boston College lost 29 players to the portal.
