Christian Eriksen spent last season fighting for minutes at Manchester United after starting just 11 league matches and finishing with five goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions before quietly exiting as a free agent when his contract expired at the end of June.

Now, after more than 300 Premier League games, the Danish star is now without a club and weighing his next move after leaving Old Trafford earlier this summer

But that may soon change.

Wrexham make approach to sign Christian Eriksen

Wrexham AFC, who is co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have approached Eriksen in what would be the most ambitious signing since their takeover.

The club is preparing for their first season in the Championship since 1982 and believes the 33-year-old's experience will be crucial as they look to find stability in the second tier after earning three consecutive promotions.

According to Daily Mail, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots said, “Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like Michael Williamson there.”

However, Schoots added, “But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition, and he absolutely wants to stay in western Europe. There are some contacts going on, but it has to suit both sides.”

Wrexham have already signed six players this summer, including Lewis O’Brien, Josh Windass, Danny Ward, Ryan Hardie, George Thomason, and Liberato Cacace.

Wrexham begin their 2025–26 Championship campaign away to Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday, August 9.
