Despite winning the SEC Championship for the third time in the Kirby Smart era, the Georgia Bulldogs finished last season with the most losses (three) since 2018. Ultimately, their College Football Playoff (CFP) run was short-lived after earning a top-four seed and a bye, losing 23-10 in the quarterfinals to Notre Dame.

Now, full focus has turned to the 2025 college football season, and Georgia is about a week away from the start of fall camp. The Bulldogs’ schedule is nearly identical to last season’s, with three new non-conference opponents and a flipped SEC slate.

They’ll face both Alabama and Texas again, but this time they’ll have the opportunity to play them at home.

On Wednesday, ESPN ranked every top 25 team’s biggest "swing game," and for the Bulldogs, it was neither Alabama nor Texas. Instead, ESPN's Mark Schlabach chose what would be quarterback Gunner Stockton's first career SEC road start: Tennessee.

Schlabach called the Tennessee game a "significant road test" for not only Stockton but also the entire Georgia offense in one of the "most intimidating road environments in the SEC."

Stockton is entering his junior season after backing up now-Miami quarterback Carson Beck for the past two years. He appeared in four games as a freshman and two more in 2024 before being called into action during the SEC Championship Game against Texas. The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder then made his first career start in the CFP loss to Notre Dame.

In his career, Stockton has completed 57-of-83 passes for 588 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Georgia’s early trip to Rocky Top could set the tone for the rest of the season. A win would give the Dawgs a boost of confidence, with only two true road games remaining afterward — at Auburn and Mississippi State.

Take a look at Georgia's full schedule this season:

  • Aug. 30 vs Marshall
  • Sept. 6 vs Austin Peay
  • Sept. 13 @ Tennessee
  • Sept. 27 vs Alabama
  • Oct. 4 vs Kentucky
  • Oct. 11 @ Auburn
  • Oct. 18 vs Ole Miss
  • Nov. 1 vs Florida (Jacksonville)
  • Nov. 8 @ Mississippi State
  • Nov. 15 vs Texas
  • Nov. 22 vs Charlotte
  • Nov. 28 vs Georgia Tech (Atlanta - Mercedes-Benz Stadium)
