Manchester United are ramping up their search for the caretaker manager position following Ruben Amorim’s brutal sack.

Darren Fletcher was at the helm for United’s game against Burnley, and even though the match ended in a disappointing 2-2 draw, there were positive signs.

The players played with a lot more freedom, while the former midfielder was brave with his substitutions, unlike the Portuguese.

Fletcher will remain in charge for the FA Cup tie against Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford, and the expectation is that a new appointment will be made in time for the Manchester derby.

INEOS set for face-to-face talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are among the leading candidates. It was expected that both might be working in tandem like before, but that does not seem to be the plan anymore.

INEOS have already spoken with the ex-England midfielder, and now, as per The Daily Mail, face-to-face talks with the Norwegian will be held on Saturday.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hold face-to-face talks with Manchester United on Saturday as he bids to become interim head coach until the end of the season.

“Solskjaer is battling with Michael Carrick for the role after United sacked Ruben Amorim this week, although caretaker boss Darren Fletcher cannot be ruled out.

Hopefully, we get an answer next week

“It’s understood that both Solskjaer and Carrick held preliminary discussions with the United hierarchy earlier in the week.

“Carrick, 44, met with chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox in person on Thursday, and Solskjaer will have his interview at Carrington on Saturday.

“It will be his first face-to-face meeting with the club’s hierarchy since Amorim was sacked.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the backing of plenty of United’s superstars, and The Peoples Person has already relayed that he would want the permanent job should he succeed in taking the 20-time English league champions back to the Champions League.
