Four of the best sports attractions in the country might be right here in Louisville.
Louisville came out on top in number of nominations for USA Today’s 10Best Readers' Choice Awards' Best Attraction for Sports Fans voter-driven competition.
The Kentucky Derby Museum at704 Central Ave., Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, 800 W. Main St., the Muhammad Ali Center, 144 N. Sixth St., and Churchill Downs ― the storied racetrack where the Kentucky Derby has run annually for 150 years ― at 700 Central Ave., were named among the best sports attractions in the country.
Louisville is the only city in the country with four attractions nominated, which is more than any other destination on the list.
The nationwide list includes 20 museums, venues, and iconic sporting destinations, which are selected by USA Today’s expert panel of journalists and editors. Readers are invited to vote for their favorites, which are tallied to select the 10 best attractions.
Voting is open now through Aug. 18, and fans can vote once per day for their favorite attraction by visiting 10best.usatoday.com.
This accolade further cements Louisville's reputation as a premiere sports hub, according to a new release from Louisville Tourism. Sports tourism generates more than $45 billion annually in the United States, and cities like Louisville with strong, diverse sports attractions, are drawing increasing numbers of visitors.
Last year, the Kentucky Derby Museum and Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory clocked in at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively, on USA Today 10Best's 2024 for the Best Attractions for Sports Fans.
